How to check an eyewear frame size

A practical model, colour and fit checklist before comparing prices.

Start with a pair whose fit you already know or the specification supplied by your optician. Look for the complete brand, model, colour code and size before comparing offers.

Read the measurements together

Frame markings commonly identify lens width, bridge width and temple length. A number such as 52 is not a universal fit label; compare the complete measurement sequence with the retailer’s specification. We show supplied sizes as recorded and do not infer a measurement when it is missing.

Keep the colour code

The model name may have several colour or lens combinations. Match the whole reference, including suffixes, before treating two offers as interchangeable.

Separate frames from lens options

An optical-frame price may exclude prescription lenses and dispensing. A sunglasses offer may have different lens finishes or polarised variants. Confirm the full contents and selected options at checkout.

Use a barcode as an identity check

Our comparisons group the same validated barcode within UK/GBP. Review the supplied frame details as well. If a source has conflicting size or colour information, it is held from the comparison rather than blended into another variant.

For questions about fit, prescription or lens suitability, ask your optician or the retailer. This checklist explains comparison fields and does not replace a fitting.
